Passport

If a flight ticket and visa are extremely important for your travel, a passport is not less. Because it is used to identify you as a citizen of a country that your nation can protect when you are abroad and give you the right to come back there.

Vaccine passport

Vietnam recognizes vaccine passports from 72 countries and territories in the world. It would be an advantage if you come from a country whose vaccine passport has been accepted in Vietnam, you‘ll have many benefits.

If you do possess a vaccine passport, you can visit certain places without quarantine such as Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, and Quang Ninh. Thus, don’t forget to bring it with you.

It is mandatory for all other incoming travelers to Vietnam to complete a 7-day centralized quarantine, even if you have a vaccine passport. You can choose concentrated isolation areas or self-selected quarantine facilities.

How To Make Medical Declaration When I Return To Vietnam?

The government requires all passengers to complete the online entry health declaration form within 24h arriving in Vietnam. To be able to do it, please follow our guide below:

Step 1: Get access to Medical Declaration Management System at https://tokhaiyte.vn/. Then you can select your suitable language to declare your information conveniently.

Step 2: Read carefully, then fill in the blankets in the form. Please notice that if the box has a sign “*”, you are required to fill it, otherwise, you will not be allowed to submit it.

Step 3: Reach this step; you need to choose a form of quarantine because, according to the Vietnam government, all passengers entering here must be quarantined upon entry. As mentioned above, if you have a vaccine passport, you can reduce the quarantine period to 7 days instead of 21 days as usual.
Also, you need to show a negative COVID-19 test result effective within three days or a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 prior to entry. Take a shot, then upload it.

Step 4: Enter the verification code in the last box of the declaration form. Finally, submit and wait until the screen appears the message “Sincerely thank you for completing the medical declaration” and instructions. After that, you need to go to the workplace of the medical staff to get a confirmation before going through the immigration check-in counter.

How Can I Understand “5K Message” In Vietnam During Covid 19 Pandemic?

What do you need to do after entering Vietnam first? There is nothing important as following strictly the “5k ” regulation! You need to know them by heart when you return to Vietnam.

The Ministry of Health launched the 5K message in Vietnamese since the beginning of the covid-19 outbreak: “Khẩu Trang (Facemask) – Khử khuẩn (Disinfection) –

Khoảng cách( Distance) – Không tập trung (No gathering) – Khai báo y tế( Health declaration)”. This helps you prevent the virus from spreading and keep each other safe in Vietnam. Therefore, comply with these regulations to protect yourself when living far from home!

We hope that information aforementioned will be useful for you in planning to travel to Vietnam in the future, when the country reopens.

Recent researches and practices show that the new corona variants are more likely to spread through the air in a closed environment, with the air conditioner on. Within 36 hours after exposure to the pathogen, one person has been tested positive and in some cases, one passed it onto others 2 days after exposure.

Up to now, implementing the 5N (5 Nos)  rule and vaccination against COVID is still the optimal strategy recommended by many countries. This message has reached people in the communities of many countries to help prevent the COVID epidemic effectively. But since the discovery of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, many supportive solutions are recommended to increase the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control, of which the concern is to increase the ventilation in the residence of each individual and groups of family.

Many studies have concluded that a well-ventilated and hot environment from sunlight will drastically reduce the activeness of the new corona variant as well as the risk of spreading infection of most respiratory viruses. It could be said that “to open the door for ventilation and sunlight is one of the best remedies for respiratory viruses. So what should we do now to limit the environment we live in and reduce the density of viruses in the air, in order to avoid the infection of the new virus variant?

Ways to prevent yourself from the new corona variant:

The new corona variant spreads through the air

  1. Keep everything organized, tidy and clean the house daily

For items inside your home or private room, you must arrange them neatly and scientifically. Vacuum, clean the surface of the house, furniture, handles, handrails…, especially the nooks and crannies and under the cabinets and beds that are easy to miss. Remove dirt and unused furniture for easy daily cleaning and sanitizing. The better you do this, the more you eliminate the virus’ hiding places.

  1. Ventilate the house, receive sunlight

The new corona variant spreads through the air

Opening the door helps to ventilate the house, creating continuous convection air currents, thereby rapidly reducing the virus density in the air, especially when there are people in your home who are suffering from respiratory viral infections such as colds, flu…. The virus is easily spread in the air  when coughing and sneezing. When sunlight enters your home, the air will naturally warm up, creating a high-temperature environment that is not suitable for the growth of respiratory viruses.

Common characteristics for respiratory viruses like to live in places with low temperature and humidity, the most suitable is below 25 degrees Celsius such as an environment with an operating air conditioner. In an environment that is both sunny and at a high temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or higher, the respiratory virus can only exist for a short time and will be destroyed, helping to reduce its ability to spread and reduce infection. many times.

In addition, the sun also brings you many unexpected valuable benefits:

– Helps you to live longer:

A study of 30,000 Swedish women, followed for more than 20 years, found that those with less sunlight exposure lived 2.1 years shorter than those who did not. spend a lot of time outdoors. However, be careful because too much sun exposure can increase the risk of skin cancer. Measures should be taken to protect the skin such as wearing protective clothing, sunglasses and applying sunscreen.

– Make you happier:

The new corona variant spreads through the air

Sunlight has the ability to help the body release beta-endorphin, which improves mood and makes you feel happier. Sunlight boosts levels of serotonin, the body’s natural happy hormone. Indeed, we tend to feel happier and more energetic when the sun is shining. In addition, exposure and exercise in sunlight can help prevent depression.

– Help you sleep better:

A study by the University of Colorado-Boulder, USA, found that natural light from the sun can help regulate circadian rhythms and regulate the body’s sleep-wake cycle. When the body is regularly exposed to sunlight, the sleep cycle will be more tightly regulated and sleep better.

– Helps the body produce adequate vitamin D:

Vitamin D deficiency is associated with many health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, aging, and an overall risk of death. Sunlight is still the richest natural source of vitamin D. Having two hands and your face exposed to the sun for about 15 minutes a day can provide you with 3,000 to 5,000 IU of vitamin D.

Quarantine Experience Of A Foreigner In Vietnam

Quarantine Experience Of A Foreigner In Vietnam

Here is the full text of this guy’s quarantine experience in Vietnam:

”5am - I landed at Noi Bai airport, Hanoi with the hope of a new life in the country I love. I finally managed to do that.

When we got off the plane, we were “welcome” by iron fences and had to complete health declarations. Some people were tested by swabs and staff at the airport were wearing protective clothing. Now everything becomes so real, no longer a newspaper headline.

Each of us had to wait to get our samples tested and submit our passports. I feel lucky that I filled out the online form and didn’t have to wait in line. They finished up taking samples from my throat and nose then I was told to sit in a specific area.

I looked back at the line of people waiting. Westerners, Vietnamese, everyone is waiting. As time went on, the confusion increased and none of us had a clue what would happen. A group of elderly people traveling nearby was complaining but it was clear that not only were we confused but the staff at that area weren’t sure what to do with us. I realized that someone was holding a meeting to discuss where to send us.

About 4-5 hours later, we were informed that there were two options. Get your passport back and catch another flight home or quarantine for 14 days in Vietnam. Forreigners would have to pay for the testing and quarantine fee unless there is a sponsor (the institution you are about to work with for example) while Vietnamese people will get free treatment.

“People started complaining and asking questions over and over again, I felt sorry for the translator. She was there to help us”

All Vietnamese had to be in quarantine while we had more than one choice. Either way, there’s no turning back. The number of foreigners was only 4, we didn’t know where to go and what awaited us. I only overheard that I was going somewhere far away.

We had to stay in the quarantine area for 14 days

We had to stay in the quarantine area for 14 days

We are brought to a place that looked like a freight port. Passports were put in a yellow bag and everthing seemed serious. When we were taken out of the airport, we were all thinking about what could happen. Will we be well fed? Would there be high exposure to the infected people? The surrounding began to change from busy streets to highways to countryside, until we reached a military base.

“They sprayed disinfectant when we entered and took us all to a large yard where our luggage was also disinfected.”

Looking around, there were two large rows of houses and fences. Everyone was wearing protective clothing. One by one we checked in and were directed to our room. They set up Europeans like us in one zone and separated men and women. Anyone with children will be allowed to stay in a separate room. The airport can be a bit chaotic but the quarantine is well organized. That proved that when the whole world was still hesitating, Vietnam was ready.

They sprayed disinfectant when we entered

They sprayed disinfectant when we entered

When I went to my room, I looked at my surroundings.  Fences and training ground and fields in the distance with farmers working hard. The condition was much better than I expected. 4 Westerners shared a room, with 10 military bunk beds. We talked, looked around, and went to sleep well. The next morning, an argument arose between us about talking while everyone was sleeping. We worked it out after that, but obviously we needed to pay attention to each other. Breakfast was Banh mi which eased all cravings – I really miss the taste of Vietnamese Banh Mi.

Then a soldier came back and bought me a SIM card. I wanted to “tip” him for helping me since I came here but he refused, just taking money for a SIM. Our interpreter arrived early and asked us about our time here. She revealed that she was not an employee of the embassy, she volunteered to come here. She took the risk to help us. We found out about the test results we got last night and we were all negative except for an elderly gentleman traveling on a business class plane. I was filled with relief but also anxiety. Would I have to stand near him? Did I touch something he might have touched? All I know was that he didn’t come with us after leaving the airport. We contacted relatives and reassured them but also informed that we would be here for 14 days.

Looking outside, everything was peaceful. The place was quiet, the soldiers worked tirelessly to disinfect the rooms daily, as well as record our temperatures and empty our trash cans. They lived there to help their country and no matter what they could hear from us, they are friendly and caring. So far, this feels more like a camping holiday than a quarantine. In our room, we shared snacks, fruit and started receiving things from relatives.

When I stepped outside, in the back of the designated area, a Vietnamese man said hi to me. He asked me how many people were in the room. I answered 4 and he said he was with 16 other people.

We knew that soon about 700 more people would arrive, and in 12 hours, lines of buses would arrive consecutively. By morning we had new neighbors and the block across from us was completely packed. Just by listening, you could tell that there were a lot of people. I was afraid that I may be infected by other people.

I took some pictures and walked around. Some luggage for some reason was still being left outside, and among them there was a trolley. The scene looked rather desolate.

The situation here was fine, but we fear that it could change. It was probably because of the tension and mutual fear among strangers as the crowd grew larger. However, one thing that kept me believing was that Vietnam would be working hard to keep everyone safe.”

Since the out break of Covid-19 pandemic began in Vietnam in March 2020, the Government had to lock the country down to control the spread of the virus in community. Schools were closed and many foreign English teachers had to leave because they  couldn’t get a job.

Now, many foreigners who want to come back to Vietnam to be a teacher have a common question: “How to enter Vietnam during Covid-19”. Life goes back to normal, students go to schools, English centers reopen, Vietnam is in high demand of foreign English teachers. You can see on the Facebook groups about English teaching jobs in Vietnam, there’re hundreds posts saying they’re looking for English teachers all over Vietnam but currently the number of foreign teachers in Vietnam is very small so they couldn’t find teachers even they pay high salary, much higher than before Covid-19. After everything goes through, your company will send you a approval letter, you will show this letter to the immigration at the airport when you arrive and the immigration will get you a visa stamp. When you’ve arrived to Vietnam, you will need to make your work permit and residence card to work here legally and longer. Your company

If you can not do it in time, you can come to Vietnam first with your visa and ask your family to send those documents later.

One more thing you need to do before getting to the plane is you need to do a Covid-19 test by the real time PRC technique maximum 3 days getting to the plane and get a certificate to prove that you are negative with the virus. The tests must be done at testing centers approved by their government or at test centers approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). The Vietnamese immigration will require you to show the test result when you get to the airport in Vietnam.

Visa fees:

Normally your company will pay for the fees of visa and work permit, you would need to ask the recruiter in the interview about this. In case your company asks you to pay for it, the total price for all of them is about 700$ (visa approval letter, visa stamp, work permit, residence card).

By April 16, more than 137,000 people worldwide have died of COVID-19, the highly infectious respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.

The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 has exceeded two million, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

1. What is a coronavirus?

Coronaviruses (COVID-19) are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

2. Where did the virus come from?

At the end of December, the Chinese public health officials informed the World Health Organization about a serious problem: an unknown, new virus was causing pneumonia-like illness in the city of Wuhan. They quickly determined that it was a coronavirus and the virus rapidly spread beyond Wuhan, traveling to different places around the world.

3. What is the mode of transmission? How (easily) does it spread?

While animals are believed to be the original source, the virus now spreads from person to person (human-to-human transmission). There is not enough epidemiological information at this time to determine how easily this virus spreads between people. It is currently estimated that, on average, one infected person will infect from two to three other people.

The virus seems to be transmitted mainly through small respiratory droplets through sneezing, coughing, or interacting between people in a close distance (usually less than one meter). These droplets will be inhaled, or they will land on surfaces that others may come into contact with. People will get infected when they touch their nose, mouth, or eyes with the hands that have contact with the virus. The virus can survive on different surfaces from several hours (copper, cardboard) up to a few days (plastic and stainless steel). However, the amount of viable viruses declines over time and may not always be present in sufficient numbers to cause infection.

The incubation period for COVID-19 (i.e. the time between exposure to the virus and onset of symptoms) is currently estimated to be between one and 14 days.

We know that the virus can be transmitted when people who have infected show symptoms such as coughing. There is also some evidence suggesting that transmission can occur from a person that is infected even two days before showing symptoms; however, uncertainties remain about the effect of transmission by non-symptomatic persons.

4. When is a person infectious?

The infectious period may begin one to two days before symptoms appear, but people are likely most infectious during the symptomatic period, even if symptoms are mild and very non-specific. The infectious period is now estimated to last for 7-12 days in moderate cases and up to two weeks on average in severe cases.

5. How severe is COVID-19 infection?

Preliminary data from the EU/EEA (from the countries with available data) show that around 20-30% of diagnosed COVID-19 cases are hospitalized and 4% have a severe illness. Hospitalization rates are higher for those aged 60 years and above, and for those with other underlying health conditions.

6. Where can I get tested?

If you are feeling ill with COVID-19 symptoms (such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle pain or general weakness), it is recommended that you contact your local healthcare services online or by telephone. If your healthcare provider believes there is a need for a laboratory test for the virus that causes COVID-19, he/she will inform you of the procedure to follow and provide the information about the test.

7. How can I avoid getting infected?

The virus enters your body through your eyes, nose, and/or mouth, so it is important to avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
It is important to wash our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Also, you can wash your hands with alcohol-based solutions, gels, or tissues. It is also recommended that people need to keep a distance from each other for at least one meter, especially from people who show symptoms of COVID-19. These actions will reduce the risk of infection through respiratory droplets and flatten the curve.

8. What can I do to protect myself and others?

Stay home as much as possible, especially if you’re feeling sick. Stay home even if you are not feeling sick as evidence suggests people can be contagious even if they don’t have symptoms. Wash your hands, wipe down surfaces with disinfectant, and cover your mouth if you cough.

You can also wear cloth masks or face coverings when you are out in public, especially in places where it is hard to stay far away from others. Don’t go out and buy medical-grade masks, because doctors and nurses need those. Wearing a cloth face-covering could help stop you virus-laden particles to other people, even if you don’t know you’re sick.

If you are a young, healthy person then you might not feel very sick if you catch COVID-19. However, if you don’t stay at home and practice social distancing, you could pass it on to someone older or with a chronic health condition, who is more likely to have a severe case of the disease.

9. Is there a vaccine against the virus?

There are currently no vaccines against human coronaviruses, including the virus that causes COVID-19. This is why it is very important to prevent infection and to take measures to prevent further spread of the virus.

10. How long will it take to develop a vaccine?

The development of vaccines takes time. Several pharmaceutical companies and research laboratories are working on vaccine candidates. It will take months or years before any vaccine can be widely used as the vaccine needs to undergo extensive testing in clinical trials to determine its safety and efficacy. These clinical trials are an essential precursor to regulatory approval and usually take place in three phases.

  • The first, involving a few dozen healthy volunteers, test the vaccine for safety, monitoring for adverse effects.
  • The second, involving several hundred people, usually in a part of the world badly affected by the disease, look at how effective the vaccine is in the field, and the third does the same in several thousand people.
